July 5, 2020
It has been four months—
No touch from a human
Given or received
In this time of COVID-19 pandemic
But in the early mornings
My blue-eyed rescue boy
Leaps on the bed
Settles on my chest
And with one paw hooks my wrist in his
And with the other velvet paw
Gently taps my cheek
And begins his warm purr
Which signals to me
That I am not alone
And that a new day has begun.
Thank goodness for our pets. They are so loyal and needy in a good way. I wonder what our pets are thinking why we are all staying at home nowadays.
Stay safe. I am here for you!
Thanks, Gloria, hope you are doing well!
Hi Kristin! Thank you for your wonderful comments. And, Our animals do make a world of difference. They are lots of company. I don’t go out too much, but I certainly do find it very limiting. I miss people being around and we haven’t done much of that really since mid March. We did not get together with family during the 4th of July weekend. Kansas is kind of having a resurgence of the virus, so no family time. Maybe next weekend we might be able to go swimming or something. If I could travel, I’d go to Canada. Hopefully it would be cooler there than it has been in Kansas.
Have you been able to Participate in in-person church services yet?
Any good books you’ve read recently? Hope you’re doing well, Kristin.
Good to hear from you, Elaine. I don’t think Canada is letting us in right now! I had a Road Scholar trip to Quebec for August and rescheduled it to July 2021, hope that happens. Family wedding in Il next month but I am not going, too dangerous. UUCF is holding worship and other meetings via Zoom and probably will through next May. Highly recommend book Life after Life by Kate Atkinson. Love and hugs! Kristin
So glad you have a furry friend to keep you company. I’m finding I miss my dog even more now than I did prior to the pandemic. We lost her a year ago in February but I think of her every day.
Hope you are able to be around others at least a little and at a safe distance since some regulations are lifting. We are taking those more relaxed rules with a giant grain of salt but are able to embrace a few of them. Wish everyone would wear a mask!!
Take care and hope to see you soon.
Willow
Good to hear from you! Yes, Yangtze is very sweet, and his sister JuJu Bee is now more accepting of me. Very hard living alone. I have had 1-2 friends visit outside here, at 10 feet distance, and Zoom is a big help. I am dismayed by my lethargy. Good wishes to your family, especially your amazing mother. Kristin
